Since domestic violence and abuse began to be recognized as a national health problem, a great deal of attention has been focused on intimate partner abusedomestic violence against menrecognitionsevere injuries that female victims of domestic violence exhibit. However, this does not mean that men do not suffer from abuse.
Like women, men are also at risk for suffering from various forms of domestic abuse. Many men die every year due to extensive violence at the hands of their current or former intimate partner, or their former partner's current spouse. It is essential that more resources be focused on raising awareness about domestic violence against men, so that male victims of abuse feel more comfortable seeking the assistance and the support that they need to protect themselves.
